The Wonders of Texting....

In my opinion, texting is a wonderful invention. As awkward at it as I am, it's my default method of keeping in touch with my out-of-state kids. I can call - but they don't always answer right away. I can email - but they don't always answer right away. I text - and they answer right away. Don't know why this is but I'm glad it works.

I've even made an anonymous texting friend. He somehow mis-texted me last summer - it involved an accident, a pregnant wife - important stuff, so I felt the need to text him back to tell him his original text had somehow been misdirected. Confusing, I know.... He later thanked me and let me know things turned out fine. From time to time, more misdirected texts followed. By last month our mis-texting relationship had evolved to the point where he felt comfortable enough to ask the time of a Saints game. This relationship culminated last night. My phone pinged with a new text and I opened the message to find a picture of my mis-texting friend's beautiful newborn baby. I wonder if I should buy a present?

I have GOT to get a phone with texting. I rarely use my phone and have a great plan that costs only $50/year. I'm behind the times, I think.
